Wes Anderson makes the H&M Christmas super-magic with a video full of emotion and a fairytale mood and if you thought you were not ready for Christmas just yet, this will surely put you in the mood.
“Come together” is the name of the holiday themed H&M campaign and it brings together three things that a lot of people love: the extraordinary cinematography and direction of Wes Anderson (just think of his pastel colors from Grand Budapest Hotel, take a moment to relive that experience and you understand what I mean), Adrien Brody who plays a train conductor and H&M in a four minute winter wonderland.
What it’s so great about this Christmas campaign and BIG thumbs up to H&M for this one is the contrast with last year’s glitzy, glamy, flashy, celebrity campaign with Katy Perry. It was fun but this new video tells a story, puts us in the mood and it shows the most wonderful journey that we would all like to be a part of. You just feel like you’re the kid on the train, waiting for the cup of hot chocolate and nicely dressed people – which, by the way, is quite the diverse group with a hipster dude, a normcore girl, an Asian grandpa, an African American young woman and an island lady.
Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s head of design and creative director, said: “The winter train ride, under Wes Anderson’s direction, is the perfect setting for H&M’s holiday collection full of relaxed, wearable elegance. It’s about mixing the informal with a sense of occasion, capturing the holiday mood for both dressing up and getting cosy with loved ones.”
Brody added: “This story may resonate more than ever at a time in the world where we could all do with giving a stranger a hug.”
One of the songs that they used is “Happy Xmas (War is over)”, composed by John Lennon & Yoko Ono. The new collection will be in stores at the end of November 2016.
