The Weeknd for H&M (exclusive editorial + lookbook)

Posted on February 2, 2017

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd got his special collection for H&M with “Spring Icons”, a series of ready to wear styles that work their magic in beige and black.

The Weeknd is probably the biggest popstar of the moment even though he’s well known for his R&B tunes. With a new brilliant album a series of many worldwide hits, the Canadian star went from underdog to topdog in only three years. Besides his unique voice & cool sound, he transformed into an influencer for youngsters with his hairdo and now he’s venturing into clothes with this new H&M collaboration.

What I love about the H&M collaborations is that they never pick the most obvious choice and they always go for a surprise! And this special collection that has the X and O’s from The Weeknd’s signature logo, they manage to introduce a fresh look for the Spring Collection – they still haven’t presented the SS17 collection, we’re waiting for it when Paris Fashion Week strikes very soon.

When will The Weeknd’s Spring Icons collection it be available in H&M stores worldwide? On the 2nd of March 2017 it will be ON!

The Weeknd’s XO insignia is a reoccurring motif and can be seen adorning hoodies, bomber jackets, and sweaters. Stand out pieces include the badass motorbike jacket, Asia-inspired shirts, and a zip-up work shirt. Faux suede, pleather, and cotton are but a few of the materials utilized.

“I had a great time selecting my Spring Icons at H&M. I love the mix of urban pieces like bombers and hoodies with tailored shirts and blazers. Every piece is both effortless and fresh, which is just how menswear should be,” said Abel.

I felt lucky enough to play with the special collection a few weeks ago at the H&M Romania Showroom where I chose to do this new shoot – their showroom has a nice, minimal mood so it was inspiring for me.

First, I’ll show you my favorite looks – the ones that I wore – in an exclusive editorial. And then you get to see the lookbook, piece by piece.
